I recently revisited one of my favorite comic books–Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer and I forgot how much I loved writing stories and making art. This at first started as drawing scenes and making short vigenettes about each of them–but as I got deeper in, I began to connect the dots until I came up with the story of partners Ari and Safiya and their young daughter, T.J. Ari is a glaciologist working for a year-long stay at the Ohashi Research Station, away from their wife and kid. The mini-comic/zine details their separation and their journey back together. Hopefully one day this will turn out to become a full blown comic, but I first need to do some more figure drawing practice.
Mary Clare Greenlees is a sophomore at Barnard College majoring in astrophysics. She's interested in studying exoplanets, planets, and the connection between our solar system and ones outside it! Outside of art endeavors, Mary Clare loves making things and can sew, 3D print, laser cut, and more. One day she wants to get to making a comic set in space–so maybe she'll use quarantine to start learning how to draw people instead of just landscapes.
