From classical paintings to pop songs, astronomy and the arts have always been in constant conversation. The goal of Arts & Astro is to show that art and science are not mutually exclusive and that anyone can consume and enjoy both. We hope that when browsing you learn something new about space or find a piece of art that strikes a chord within you.
Arts & Astro is usually a physical show held on Columbia University's campus but due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of all campus activities we have moved the show online for the first time. Our artist and scientist pairings this year made some incredible work together despite collaborating from different locations and timezones and all of our contributors showed amazing creativity and perseverance in helping to make this show happen! |
BlueShift is a community of undergraduates at Columbia University with a common interest in astronomy and astrophysics. We hold regular meetings to plan events and talk about current research/events in astronomy, and we also host events to help connect undergrads with research opportunities and professors. Some of our events include lunches with professors, outings to local amateur astronomy club events, guest lectures, stargazing trips, and more!
